University of Southampton are recruiting up to six Experts in Residence to support our researchers in commercialising new technologies. At least two roles will begin as soon as possible, each running for 12 months at approximately one day per week.
About the role
Experts in Residence will play a key part in strengthening our innovation ecosystem by:
- Delivering events, workshops, and mentoring to support research commercialisation
- Advising on licensing, patents, spin-outs, and industry partnerships
- Helping to raise Technology Readiness Levels and connect research with business and investors
Who we’re looking for
We’d love to hear from candidates who have:
- Experience in taking technologies to market
- A background in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Medicine or Creative Industries
- Strong communication and mentoring skills Entrepreneurial experience, and an understanding of regulatory pathways
Our current focus areas include Digital & Technologies, Life Sciences, Advanced Manufacturing, Clean Energy, Medicine and the Creative Industries
Compensation & eligibility
The role offers up to £25,000 (including VAT and travel). While some delivery can be online, in-person engagement is expected. The opportunity is open to all nationalities eligible to work in the UK, and we particularly welcome applications from underrepresented groups.
