Published on January 28, 2025

Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, will work with the Department for Transport to invest up to £30 million in innovation projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from shipping.

These will be to carry out innovative pre-deployment trials and feasibility studies.

The Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition (CMDC) Round 6 is part of a suite of interventions launched by the UK Shipping Office for Reducing Emissions (UK SHORE). UK SHORE aims to transform the UK into a global leader in the design and manufacturing of clean maritime technology.

The aim of Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition Round 6 is to fund pre-deployment trials and feasibility studies into clean maritime technologies and skills that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Your proposal must focus on clean maritime technology.

This competition is split into 3 strands:

It is your responsibility to ensure you submit your application to the correct strand for your project. You will not be able to transfer your application and it will not be sent for assessment if it is out of scope.

The aim of Strand 2 is to fund feasibility studies of clean maritime technologies and skills without a focus on Smart Shipping. Your project must undertake a technical and economic feasibility study associated with the development and real world demonstration of on-vessel technologies, infrastructure technologies, skills or a combination of each.

If your proposal is related to Smart Shipping, please review the Strand 3 competition page.

In applying to this competition, you are entering into a competitive process. This competition has a funding limit, so we may not be able to fund all the proposed projects. It may be the case that your project scores highly but we are still unable to fund it.

Application deadline: 16 April 2025 11:00am. If you would like to discuss this with someone in our team please message our Sector Lead, Yuchen Gu. To apply for this funding call, please follow this link here.
