Government opens more doors for SMEs in public sector procurement
The Crown Commercial Service (CCS) has launched a new SME Action Plan aimed at helping small and medium-sized enterprises win more public sector contracts.
🔹 What’s changing:
-
Forward view: CCS will publish future procurement pipelines to help SMEs prepare earlier
-
Events: “Meet the Buyer” sessions to connect suppliers with key procurement teams across the UK
-
Simpler terms: Streamlined contract language and clearer requirements
-
Digital access: A new Central Digital Platform (CDP) will make it easier to find and bid for opportunities
đź’Ľ Why it matters:
SMEs already make up 75% of CCS suppliers — but only 10% of direct spend. This action plan is designed to change that by removing barriers, increasing transparency, and giving smaller firms more visibility and opportunity.
If your business offers tech, digital services, health products, consultancy, logistics or facilities — now is a good time to get procurement-ready.
